Calling all City of Whittier high school seniors! We have a scholarship opportunity just for you!

Are you headed to college or trade school this fall? Write a short essay about recycling contamination for your chance to win some cash!
The Social Services Scholarship Program is sponsored by Whittier's waste management providers, Athens Services and Republic Services. Winners from each service area will be selected!

Essay Topic:
Contamination in recycling is a big problem! Review the recycling policy of Athens Services or Republic Services to learn more about recycling contamination. See the links below. 
Explain in your essay why contamination in recycling is problematic & discuss how residents & businesses could improve their local recycling to reduce contamination.

Eligibility:
✔️ Must be a high school senior headed to college or trade school.
✔️ Must live within Incorporated Whittier City limits.

Submission Guidelines:
✔️ Submit one short essay responding to the topic.
✔️ Essay must follow MLA formatting. 
✔️ Share a photo of yourself (your Senior portrait would be perfect)!

Submission deadline: 3:00pm Monday, March 4, 2024.
