Social Services Grant Funding Application 2024/25
The deadline to apply for social services grant funding for the 2024/25 fiscal year is 5:00 PM on Monday, August 5, 2024.
The City of Whittier Social Services Commission invites non-profit organizations that serve the residents of Whittier to apply for funding for the 2024/25 fiscal year. Grant funding applications are OPEN NOW to non-profit organizations serving Whittier residents in two focus areas:
✅ Organizations offering mental health services
✅ Organizations offering other social services support
Mandatory Pre-Submission Meeting:
The City of Whittier Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department and Social Services Commission are here to help with the application process.
To assist nonprofit agencies interested in applying for funds, applicants must attend a mandatory pre-submission on Monday, July 1, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. at City Hall in the Council Chambers (13230 Penn Street, Whittier, CA 90602).

Examples of Qualifying Social Services:
Examples of social services programs which may be eligible for grant funding include mental health services, employment assistance, crime prevention, child care and education, health services, drug abuse, recreational needs and other services that primarily assist low to moderate income residents, including abused children, battered spouses, senior citizens, those with disabilities, and unhoused persons.
Eligibility and Selection:
The Whittier Social Services Commission will review all applications to determine eligibility. The Commission’s recommendations regarding funding will be forwarded to the City Council for final approval. Agencies that receive funding may be required to make presentations at Commission meetings. Applications submitted for funding, are reviewed by the Commission. They in turn make recommendations for agencies and funding amounts for the Whittier City Council’s review and approval.
