The Whittier community is known for taking great pride in their homes and outdoor spaces, each with their unique Whittier flair. When residents care for their homes, it has a positive impact on the entire community. That's why we are proud to continue the annual Whittier Beautification Awards to celebrate our residents' efforts in maintaining and beautifying their homes and outdoor spaces. By recognizing these achievements, we hope to inspire and encourage even more beautification in the Whittier community. Let's work together to Keep Whittier Prettier!

2024 Nomination Process

Whittier residents are invited to nominate their own residences or their neighbors for the Whittier Beautification Awards.

Qualifications for nomination include:

• Residence must be located within the City of Whittier.
• Residence may be a single-family or multi-family property.
• One (1) nomination per submission form.
• Residence must be property permitted at the time of nomination.
• Nominations must include 5 to 7 photos which clearly display the nominated residence's exterior and/or landscaping. These photos will be used by the judges to evaluate each nomination.  
• Nominated residences should display pride of ownership through well-maintained and exceptional landscaping of their property or notable efforts in improvement and/or preservation.

Nomination Deadline

Nominations have been extended to Friday, April 5, 2024.

Nominations are accepted via email submitted to ComServ@CityofWhittier.org or in person at Whittier City Hall, Parks, Recreation & Community Services Department, 13230 Penn Street. 

Selection Process 

Nominations will be judged by the Keep Whittier Prettier Committee, a sub-committee comprised of members of the Parks, Recreation & Community Services Commission, as well as members of the Cultural Arts Commission. Judges will evaluate nominations, selecting properties annually that demonstrate exceptional landscaping, exterior maintenance and overall beauty. 

Award Recipients

Award Recipients will be announced by Whittier City Council at the first council meeting in June, 2024. Recipients will receive a certificate of recognition and a commemorative yard sign.
