The City of Whittier’s Bus Shelter Improvement Program is an ongoing collaboration project between the City’s Planning Department, Public Works Department and the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department.

Throughout the City of Whittier, each major stop will be retrofitted to provide an improved transit experience by adding a more comfortable, safe and convenient sitting and waiting area, while also creating a more aesthetically pleasing urban environment for our community.

Many bus stop locations will receive a solar powered lighted domed roof shelter with a bench, litter receptacle and a lighted bus stop sign that can be lit at night by the rider with a simple push of the button. This lighting system will alert the bus driver that a rider is waiting.
